In Pucará, you will explore archaeological sites, the Lithic Museum, and an artisan workshop of Toritos de Pucará, symbols of protection and prosperity.
ITINERARY
The tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Puno, heading to the Sillustani Archaeological Complex, one of the most enigmatic sites of the Peruvian highlands. Here, you will admire the impressive pre-Inca chullpas, ancient funerary towers located along the shores of Lake Umayo, set in a natural environment rich in history and spirituality.
You will then continue to Lampa, known as the Pink City for its colonial architecture. You will visit the majestic Church of Santiago Apóstol, famous for its silver altar and for housing a unique replica in Latin America of Michelangelo’s Pietà. You will also visit a chinchilla breeding center, where you will learn about the care and conservation of this Andean species, and enjoy a pleasant walk through its cobblestone streets full of tradition.
The journey continues to Pucará, cradle of an ancient Andean culture. There, you will visit the Lithic Museum, which displays ancestral sculptures and ceramics that reveal the legacy of this civilization. You will also enter an artisan workshop of Toritos de Pucará, where you will learn about the crafting process of these colorful pieces, symbols of protection, abundance, and prosperity in Andean worldview.
Finally, you will return to Puno at a relaxed pace, concluding an enriching experience filled with history, living culture, and Andean tradition.
