OVERVIEW
The Tinajani Canyon was part of the territory of the ancient Qaluyo culture settled on the shores of the Pacobamba river at 3,953 meters above sea level. This canyon is home to gigantic reddish granite rock formations that can measure up to 50 meters high. There are anthropomorphic and zoomorphic forms that originated from wind erosion and meteorological changes, being the most significant; volcanic activity and water see page. This place has various legends transmitted by the population such as the legend of "The devil's shower".
Pucara is famous for its ceramics called "Pucara's bulls" and for the Archaeological Complex of the Pukara culture (considered the mother culture of the Puno highlands). This complex is divided into two sectors: the urban area and the area where the Kalasaya pyramid or temple is located, to serve as a ceremonial center. Additionally, there is a museum, where we will find various artifacts, carvings and iconographies of this culture, the most representative being the "Estela Pukara or Suche".
Lampa, also called "the pink city", because there are colonial houses built with reddish clay, is a place full of history and culture. One of its main attractions is Santiago Apóstol church, which stands out for its beautiful silver ornaments, paintings and catacombs.

This adventure along the Quechua Route will allow you to enjoy a beautiful landscape while visiting the incredible reddish stone forest in the Tinajani Canyon, the structures of the archaeological legacy of the Pukara culture and The colonial city of Lampa.
On board a private vehicle, our guide will show up at your hotel to start the tour to our first destination, Lampa, that preserves its colonial style, finding inside the Santiago Apóstol church a peculiar ossuary and a replica of Michelangelo’s Pieta. Later we will head to Pucara, on the way we will observe the Puyas de Raymondi, a bromeliad plant that can measure 10 meters high and is considered a living fossil.
Upon arrival in Pucará, we will visit the Archaeological Complex carried out by the Pukaras in order to show the duality of its culture believe. We will also enter to the lithic museum, that contains the vestiges left by the aforementioned culture. In the afternoon, you will have free time to have lunch at a local restaurant (at the passenger's expense), and later we will go to a ceramic workshop, where you will be appreciate first-hand the pucara bulls that represents strength, fertility and protection.
Continuing with our tour in Tinajani we will enter the stone forest and the majestic Tinajani Canyon, where you can take wonderfull photographs. Finally, we will return to Puno city and you will be transferred to your hotel so that you can rest.
